The City of Baltimore reported a 50% reduction in 911 calls by shifting the non-emergency calls to their 311 operations.
Police officials have said Chicago sends officers to almost 70 percent of calls that are received, compared to about 30 percent in other major cities. It's going to take an ongoing communications plan and some investment in marketing to ensure the public is aware to contact 311 for non-emergencies vs 911 for emergencies.
